Workshop "Urbanisation with journalism and literature" has been organised by FFL on November 9th to memorise the Tho moi and Tu luc van doan movements.
Vietnamese cultural scholar Do Lai Thuy was the main speaker of this event. Sharing his respect to one of the Vietnamese biggest and greates literature and journalism movements, Assosiate Professor Thuy said “In just 13 years of development, the New Poetry movement in Vietnam has gone through all the art schools, becoming the pinnacle of Vietnamese literature and partly helping Vietnamese culture and literature keep pace with the current trend. flow of the world".
The Tu Luc Van Doan group is prejudiced as a group of bourgeois writers, with sentimental, romantic, ivory towers and far from reality, standing outside the struggle of the nation. On September 22, 1932, the first issue of Phong Hoa newspaper, edited by Tu Luc Van Doan group, was published. In it, there is an article "Poetry we need to change". A year later, Phong Hoa newspaper began to have an influence in press life, they republished the article Old Love by Phan Khoi - the leading author in the New Poetry movement.
Dr. Doan Anh Duong, the second guest speaker shared that, although there is no clear operating principle, Phong Hoa newspaper mainly brings satirical laughter, modern laughter, bashing some famous figures now and then. determine, evaluate New Poetry, etc. In addition, they also show many paintings in their publications, expressing strong and drastic views, this is a step in modern journalism compared to the previous period. Moreover, the success of Phong Hoa also has to do with the number of publications that are issued up to 7,000 thousand copies per issue, which is trusted and received by many classes of readers.
After that, Tu Luc Van Doan also published Today with many photos and selected reportage which was considered a high quality newspaper at that time, but then stopped operating due to insufficient funds to continue. In particular, Today's newspaper is considered the most powerful political forum in Tonkin with topics on human autonomy and self-determination; the spirit of respect for the law – section Before the horseshoe; struggle, social reform or civic education in the new age, etc.
Tu Luc Van Doan also touched on many topical issues such as human rights, developing and protecting Vietnamese culture, improving the quality of human life, etc. powerful effect in society.
